The treatment consists of microinjections of a soft gel of hyaluronic acid (HA), which increases skin firmness, elasticity and luminosity. This hyaluronic acid treatment is not intended to provide immediate volume such as other dermal fillers. Skin Boosters will provide hydration and a blurring effect of fine lines and wrinkles without adding volume. Skin Boosters work by moisturizing the skin from the inside while stimulating new collagen production.
At FCP Dermatology, Skin Boosters are performed by our Double Board-Certified Dermatologist Dr. Kristy Bailey. This is an advanced procedure which should only be performed by a trained Dermatologist.
Skin Boosters are a treatment that consists of microinjections of dermal fillers in the skin layers, which moisturize and repair its appearance. Unlike traditional dermal fillers, they are not injected under the skin to plump up the face. Instead, Skin Boosters contain light hyaluronic acid, vitamins and minerals that aim to hydrate the skin and improve its quality.
Some of the benefits are:
Skin Boosters are done via microinjections to the treatment area in a minimally invasive way. Three treatments are typically recommended four weeks apart for best results. You will notice an improvement in texture, and elasticity, with a reduced look of fine lines and wrinkles. Your skin will appear luminous and this effect will improve with each treatment session.
Before the Skin Booster procedure – Before your Skin Boosters procedure, a complete examination and personalized patient evaluation will be completed. Photographs will be taken to assess each patient’s unique facial features before and after the treatment.
During the Skin Booster procedure –The treatment is virtually painless and minimally invasive. Small doses of hyaluronic acid are micro-injected into the skin to penetrate the deepest skin layers to rejuvenate it from the inside out. Each session lasts between 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the area to be treated. An initial protocol of 3 sessions with a one-month interval between them is recommended.
After the procedure – A small bruise may appear which disappears after a few days. Patients can immediately return to their daily activities. It is advisable to complement the treatment with good sun protection and proper hydration to prolong the effects.
The Results –Results can be seen immediately after the treatment, although maximum effects will be seen after the 3rd session. The effect lasts between six months to a year but varies between patients. It is recommended to maintain results with a treatment every 6-12 months.
At FCP Dermatology, we are dedicated to the ongoing care of our patients. We are here to guide you through your treatments, and continue to improve your results.
Skin boosters are recommended for patients of all ages who need more hydration in the skin and want to improve fine lines and crepey skin.

How many sessions are necessary?
We recommend patients start with 3 treatments, 4 weeks apart. Depending on the patient’s goals and unique facial structures, more sessions may be needed. Maintenance sessions are recommended every 6-12 months.
Each syringe of Skin Boosters contains lidocaine, which provides a numbing effect as the procedure begins. Overall, the procedure is very quick and is well tolerated by patients.
This will depend on the lifestyle, age and skin type of each individual. However, on average, the results last up to 1 year.
Skin Boosters should not be performed during pregnancy or lactation.
Some mild side effects may occur after the procedure such as:
- Skin irritation and redness in the treated area.
- Tenderness or swelling.
- Small bruises
This treatment should be performed by a physician experienced with Skin Boosters, such as a Double Board-Certified Dermatologist.
Skin Boosters can be performed as a single treatment, but can also be done in combination with other medical-aesthetic treatments, such as hyaluronic acid fillers, botox, lasers, peels and more.
Being an aesthetic medical treatment, it is not covered.
