Carbon Peel Treatment
What to expect during a carbon peel treatment

At FCP Dermatology, our carbon peel treatment is finished with our professional LED Light Treatment for maximum results. Blue or red light will be chosen depending on patient skin type and skin goals.
Before the procedure – As with most aesthetic treatments, avoid using retinol for 3 nights before your treatment. It is recommended to avoid sun exposure before the treatment.
During the procedure – Treatments last between 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the amount of time the peel is applied on the skin. The duration of the treatment will vary for each patient. There is no need for anesthesia or numbing agents. You can return to your daily activities immediately.
After the procedure – In the first hours/days after treatment, it is recommended to avoid washing with excessively hot water and/or aggressive soaps. Avoid using retinol for 1-2 nights after your treatment. It is important to supplement your treatment with a good skin care routine, including daily use of SPF to avoid pigmentation.

This treatment, is a non-invasive laser treatment designed to rejuvenate and improve the appearance of the skin.
During this treatment a thin layer of liquid carbon is applied to the face, and then a laser is used to heat and vaporize the carbon particles, exfoliating the skin and stimulating collagen production.

As an aesthetic medical treatment, it is not covered by OHIP.
This treatment is a very gentle peel and is suitable for all skin types. Immediately after the peel there may be slight redness on the skin that is easy to hide with makeup or by waiting a few minutes. It does not leave any scabs, blisters, or scars.
- It cannot be applied to tanned or recently sun-exposed skin.
- It cannot be applied on pregnant or breastfeeding patients.
- It is contraindicated in people who are taking photosensitive medications.
- It cannot be applied to areas with active infections or wounds.
- It cannot be performed in patients who are taking Epuris or Accutane (Acne medication).
The peel is very well tolerated, at most patients may feel a slight tingling sensation.
Although the effects are noticeable after the first session, to achieve maximum and lasting results, 3 sessions are recommended. Patients should wait 30 days in between treatments.
This treatment takes approximately 20-30 minutes to complete.
There is usually minimal downtime after this treatment, with some redness and mild peeling that can last for a few days.
