Botox, Injections and Fillers
Dermal Filler Treatment
When injected by an expert, hyaluronic acid dermal fillers will turn back the clock by restoring lost volume, smoothing fine lines, softening creases, and enhancing facial contours. Treatments can last up to 12 months with no down time. At FCP Dermatology, we offer only the top brands of hyaluronic acid fillers on the market such as Restylane, JUVÉDERM, Sculptra and RADIESSE. When filler is done correctly, no one should know you had anything done. You should look rested, refreshed, and more youthful but the filler should not be obvious.
If you notice that someone has had filler in their lips or cheeks, then that filler has been done by an inexperienced injector. The goal is to make you appear as if you had a good night’s sleep or have been on a very relaxing vacation.

Dermal Filler Treatment Benefits
Hyaluronic Acid and Dermal Filler Benefits
Hyaluronic acid is naturally occurring substance in your face and body. Its main function is to retain water, providing hydration, support, and volume. Over time, this substance degrades, and the body decreases its ability to replenish it. The result is the loss of volume, and the emergence of wrinkles that will give the face an aged and tired appearance. Injection of hyaluronic acid allows the skin to gain hydration and volume, replacing what was lost over time. In addition, the injection technique will stimulate new collagen production.
Dermal Filler restores deflated lips while providing hydration.
Dermal Filler replenishes lost volume resulting in a lifted appearance.
Dermal Filler fills in under-eye hollows resulting in a rested appearance.
Dermal Fill creates a more defined jawline, and balanced side profile.
Dermal Filler Treatment Details
What are Dermal Fillers used for?
The skin is our first line of contact with the outside world. The skin on our face is the most susceptible to damage from air pollutants, UV, and blue light. These harmful elements combined with aging cause the loss of elasticity, tone, smoothness, and firmness in your face. The aging process and gravity translate into the appearance of wrinkles, jowls, and sagging skin. We also lose fat, muscle, and bone in our faces over time which has a negative impact on our appearance and facial harmony. It is common to experience volume loss in the lips, cheeks, temples, and other areas of the face over time.
Hyaluronic acid dermal filler is a non-surgical and natural option to look 5-10 years younger:
- Restores deflated lips and improves projection.
- Enhances cupid’s bow definition.
- Raises sagging skin (soft lift).
- Can create more prominent cheekbones, restore volume in the temples, and redefine the chin.
- Corrects wrinkles in the upper lip area.
- Creates a more defined jawline and side profile.
- Improves the patient’s overall facial shape and symmetry.
- Reduces hollows under the eyes, resulting in a rested appearance.
- Moisturizes the skin, improves its elasticity, and increases collagen production.

What To Expect During a Dermal Filler Procedure
The placement of dermal filler is determined by a thorough examination of the unique facial anatomy of each individual by our expert Dermatologist. Very thin syringes, needles, and/or cannulas are used to deposit the filler very precisely and artistically. Everyone’s face is different and requires different amounts of filler in different areas. The results of dermal fillers are typically seen right away, however, the final results are seen after two weeks.
Hyaluronic acid is a fully compatible molecule with the body, is chemically and physically stable (it does not change over time), and is imperceptible to the touch. These characteristics allow a more natural result to be achieved. Depending on the depth of volume loss and location, different needle thicknesses and types of fillers can be used, allowing the product to be adapted to the patient’s needs. Dr. Bailey’s extensive education allows her to carefully select the appropriate product for each patient to achieve their desired result. At FCP Dermatology, we only use the Rolls Royce of dermal fillers.
Before the Treatment – Avoid taking Advil 24 hours prior to the procedure. It is recommended to have a meal prior to your procedure.
During the Procedure – Dermal Filler injections typically take 30-45 minutes. Dr. Bailey uses a thin needle or cannula depending on the area to inject small amounts of filler. The number of injections needed depends on many factors, including the size of the area to be treated.
After the Procedure – Do not rub or massage the treated area for 24 hours following treatment. There is no recovery time, you will be able to return to your normal activities immediately after the procedure.
Results –Results are immediate, although they look their best 2 weeks after the procedure. Dermal Fillers usually last between nine to twelve months, although the response varies from one patient to another.

Dermal Filler FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions About Dermal Filler
Dermal fillers are injectable substances used to restore volume, smooth out wrinkles, and enhance facial features. They are typically made of hyaluronic acid.
Dermal fillers work by adding volume to the skin and underlying tissues. The injected filler material plumps up the area, smoothing out wrinkles and lines, and restoring a more youthful appearance.
There are two types:
Cross-linked hyaluronic acid: This comes in a gel form (dense), which allows it to maintain stability for longer periods of time (9-12 months).
Non-crosslinked hyaluronic acid: This comes in a liquid form and retains its stability for less time (approximately 3-6 months).
Topical anesthesia can be used, although it is usually not necessary. Hyaluronic acid fillers contain lidocaine, which will provide a numbing effect during the treatment.
This treatment is minimally invasive and requires minimal downtime. No hospitalization is required, and patients can return to their normal activities immediately after the treatment.
There may be mild swelling and redness in areas treated immediately after the treatment. Swelling and bruising are possible but are short-lived. Patients are advised to refrain from massaging or rubbing the areas treated for 2 weeks. Patients may feel mild tenderness the evening of the procedure, which typically does not require any treatment. Tylenol can be taken if needed.
In general, hyaluronic acid is very unlikely to cause an allergic reaction since it is naturally present in our bodies. Talk to Dr. Bailey if you are allergic to lidocaine, there are some hyaluronic acids that do not contain lidocaine. Hyaluronic acid fillers are contraindicated if you have inflammation or infection in the area of injection. It is not recommended if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Severe side effects are very rare and, in most cases, they are due to inexperienced and incompetent injectors who are not familiar with facial anatomy and do not have the proper education and training. Less than 1% of injectors are qualified as expert injectors. Do your research and only trust a trained professional such as a Double Board-Certified Dermatologist.
The most severe but rare risks are:
- Necrosis (loss of part of the face and permanent scar formation)
- Immediate and irreversible blindness
The most common are:
- The appearance of bruises or lumps in the application area that settle over time.
- Tenderness at the site of injection that resolves in 24-48 hours typically.
- Redness that resolves quickly.
Dermal fillers are considered a cosmetic procedure and are not covered by insurance providers.
The results of dermal fillers can be seen immediately after the treatment. However, the filler will continue to draw in water, and integrate into the skin. After 2 weeks, any mild swelling and possible bruising will have reduced, and the final result can be seen.
The number of syringes necessary to achieve your desired result will depend on the severity of the volume loss, the age of the patient, and previous treatments done to the area. Dermal fillers differ in density, and they are made to be injected specifically into different areas of the face.
At FCP Dermatology your treatment will be personalized to your skin and unique facial anatomy.
Dermal fillers can be used to treat various areas of the face, including the lips, cheeks, nasolabial folds (lines between the nose and mouth), marionette lines (lines from the corners of the mouth to the chin), and under-eye hollows.
The duration of dermal fillers varies depending on the type of filler used and individual factors. Depending on the area being injected, most fillers can last 9-12 months.
The level of discomfort experienced during dermal filler injections can vary from person to person. Most fillers contain a local anesthetic called lidocaine to minimize pain. Additionally, a numbing cream or ice can be applied to the area before the injections to further reduce discomfort
Yes, in some cases, dermal fillers can be dissolved or reversed using an enzyme called hyaluronidase. Hyaluronidase breaks down hyaluronic acid fillers, allowing them to be gradually absorbed by the body. However, the use of hyaluronidase is not an exact science, and can dissolve some of your normal tissue. The goal should be to seek an experienced injector, and avoid the need for hyaluronidase.
Dermal fillers may not be suitable for individuals with certain medical conditions, pregnant or breastfeeding women, or those with a history of allergic reactions. It is important to consult with a qualified healthcare professional to determine if dermal fillers are suitable for you.
Pricing varies depending on individual needs and facial anatomy. At FCP Dermatology, every patient receives a 30 minute personalized consultation prior to any treatment.
