PRP Hair Loss Treatment
PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) and PRF (Platelet Rich Fibrin) hair restoration is an effective treatment for hair loss or alopecia, yielding noticeable results because of its capability to stimulate cells responsible for hair growth. PRP & PRF can also reverse the process by which hair follicles are damaged. As a result, stronger, thicker and dense hair is achieved.
PRP for hair loss and PRF hair restoration is a minimally invasive treatment. Best results have been achieved with a minimum of 6 sessions, spaced 4 weeks apart. Patients with success in these treatments generally undergo maintenance sessions once a year to keep their existing hair growth and avoid hair loss.

PRP & PRF Treatment Benefits
Benefits of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)
and Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) Hair Restoration
Platelet Rich Plasma treatment (PRP) & Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) are novel techniques that allow the isolation and use of growth factors present in your own blood to enhance, accelerate, and stimulate hair regeneration. Injection of plasma rich in growth factors will stimulate the stem cells around hair follicles to grow new hair. Their application at a capillary level stimulates vascularization at the hair follicle level, making it an effective treatment to stop hair loss and promote hair growth in patients with moderate hair loss or alopecia.
Results can be seen after 3 sessions.
Medical treatment with no downtime.
Results maintained for 6 to 12 months.
PRP treatment has no side affects.
PRP & PRF Treatment Details
How do PRP & PRF treatments work and what are the benefits?
PRP for hair loss & PRF hair restoration is an effective treatment for hair loss or alopecia. In the right hands, it is capable of stimulating cells responsible for hair growth and reversing the process by which hair follicles are damaged. As a result, stronger, thicker, and dense hair is achieved.
PRP & PRF hair restoration is a minimally invasive treatment that does not present any risk of negative reactions if carried out at a specialized Dermatology clinic, such as FCP Dermatology.
The results of PRP & PRF are so beneficial that it has been developed for other medical areas such as the treatment of tendonitis and joint injuries. Top athletes around the world are injected with PRP into their joints to accelerate wound healing. Although each patient varies, the results of PRP & PRF can become visible after the first 3 sessions, with maximum results seen after a minimum of 6 sessions spaced 4 weeks apart.
Sometimes it is necessary to combine PRP or PRF treatments with hair supplements, red light treatments, and a deep scalp cleanse with Keravive. Each individual case will be assessed by our team of experts at your consultation.
PRP for hair loss & PRF for hair restoration s a recommended treatment both for men and women who need to increase their hair density.

What To Expect During a PRP Hair Restoration Procedure
Each PRP for hair loss & PRF session lasts approximately 45 minutes to an hour. After extracting a small volume of blood from your arm, it is centrifuged, and the platelet-rich portion of the blood is extracted: a “powerhouse” of growth factors. PRP & PRF must be done with a closed system and technique. The mechanically closed system prevents environmental contaminants from transferring to the product and/or device, as well as the accidental release of PRP & PRF outside of it. This avoids the risk of any type of PRP & PRF contamination, ensures product quality, and allows it to be stored if necessary. The closed technique uses a closed system in all the PRP steps, from the extraction of blood to having the product ready to administer. PRP & PRF contains a high concentration of your own growth factors and is micro-injected into the scalp where the hair-loss is occurring.
Before the PRP for hair loss & PRF hair restoration treatment: Come to your appointment well-hydrated to maximize the quantity of plasma extracted from the blood.
During the PRP for hair loss & PRF hair restoration procedure: Your blood will be drawn and then spun with our state-of-the-art centrifuge technology. Once the plasma has been separated from the red blood cells, it will be extracted into syringes for injection. You will feel mild discomfort in the scalp, which will subside when the procedure is over.
After the PRP for hair loss & PRF hair restoration procedure: Avoid anti-inflammatory drugs or blood-thinning medications such as Aspirin, Ibuprofen, and Advil for 24 hours. Tylenol can be taken for analgesia if necessary. It is recommended to avoid washing your hair for 24 hours following the procedure.

PRP Hair Restoration FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions About PRP Hair Restoration
PRP & PRF is indicated in cases of non-scarring hair loss or hair thinning in men and women. Both men and women can suffer from androgenetic alopecia (male pattern hair loss) and a stress form of hair loss called telogen effluvium. Patients must have surrounding hair follicles for the treatment to be effective, therefore it may not be suitable for shiny bald areas where the hair follicle has scarred over. For these reasons, it is important to have a Dermatologist examine your scalp first to determine if the treatment is right for you.
Once the tissues are effectively stimulated, the results can be maintained for at least 12 months. In some patients, it is recommended to do maintenance sessions every 6-12 months.
Our Double Board-Certified Dermatologist uses an expert technique to deliver the PRP & PRF via micro-injections. This minimizes any small amount of discomfort. The injection procedure is also very fast, lasting approximately 3-5 minutes.
In the right hands, PRP & PRF is a safe procedure that can grow new hair in people of any age. The procedure is generally very well tolerated at our clinic.
PRP & PRF can be performed by anyone, however for safety and best results it should be performed by a Dermatologist using the latest technology and techniques.
Best results have been achieved with a minimum of 6 sessions, spaced 4 weeks apart. Patients with success in these treatments generally undergo maintenance sessions once or twice a year to keep their existing hair growth and avoid hair loss.
PRP & PRF can be combined with Viviscal hair vitamins, the Theradome red light helmet, Keravive hair hydrafacial, and the 24K Aquagold Hair+ treatment.
The procedure for both treatments is very similar. A blood sample is taken and is centrifuged to create a liquid serum of PRP or PRF. The serum is then injected back into the hair to stimulate new hair growth.
The difference between the treatments is mainly how the blood is synthesized. PRF starts with a smaller blood sample, and then it is centrifuged at a lower speed than PRP. This means that the blood components are not completely separated and the process is more gentle. This leads to more platelets being present in the concentration of PRF than PRP.
Choosing the right one for you depends on your specific treatment goals.
PRP & PRF hair restoration is a minimally invasive treatment. This means that it involves very little discomfort and does not require patient hospitalization allowing you to return to normal activities following the procedure.
Like any medical procedure, this treatment must be carried out at specialized Dermatology clinics, where hygiene, safety and comfort can be guaranteed.
PRP & PRF hair restoration is an autological treatment, which means that the injected material comes from your own blood. This is why there are no risks for allergies, rejections, or incompatibility.
PRP and PRF therapy are non-surgical procedures that involve injecting concentrated platelets and growth factors from a person's own blood into the scalp. These growth factors are believed to stimulate hair follicles, promote hair growth, and improve hair thickness and density.
Results may vary among individuals. Some patients may see an improvement in hair thickness, hair density, and hair regrowth within a few months of treatment. However, it's important to note that PRP/PRF therapy may not work for everyone, and the degree of improvement can differ from person to person.
In combination with PRP/PRF therapy, healthcare providers may recommend lifestyle modifications, hair care practices, or other treatments to optimize hair growth. These may include a healthy diet, avoiding excessive heat or chemical styling, and using prescribed medications or topical solutions.
When administered by an experienced physician, PRP & PRF does not imply many risks, but there are some contraindications of PRP & PRF that must be considered:
- Treatment is not recommended in pregnant and lactating women.
- In people with a history of altered healing, or who have an infection or an active skin inflammation.
Hair loss is typically considered a cosmetic issue and is not covered by OHIP or insurance providers.
