Laser Skin Resurfacing

Scarring, skin texture irregularities, and saggy aging skin –  you can’t escape them, but you can minimize them to look your best with the top of the line fractionated PICO FX laser skin resurfacing device.  The PICO FX resurfacing laser is a fast, fractionated laser skin resurfacing treatment that utilizes ultra-short pulses of fractional laser energy to effectively remodel and renew the skin.  It is called “PICO” because the pulses are measured in picoseconds, which are one trillionth of a second. This means that it can provide a targeted treatment without damaging the surrounding tissue.

The PICO FX fractionated laser gives the results of a Fraxel resurfacing laser treatment without the extensive downtime. If you’re interested in learning more about the PICO FX skin resurfacing and skin tightening treatment contact our team!

Laser Skin Resurfacing for Face

The face is one of the most common areas for Pico FX laser skin resurfacing. It is used to improve overall skin texture, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and address pigmentation irregularities such as sunspots and age spots. Pico FX can provide a rejuvenated and more youthful appearance to the facial skin.

Laser Skin Resurfacing for Hands

The hands are often exposed to environmental factors, leading to sun damage and the development of age spots or uneven pigmentation. Pico FX can be used on the hands to minimize the signs of aging, including wrinkles and pigmentation issues, resulting in smoother and more youthful-looking skin.

Laser Skin Resurfacing for Neck

The neck and décolletage areas are prone to showing signs of aging, including fine lines, wrinkles, and loss of skin elasticity. Benefits of the PICO FX laser skin resurfacing

The PICO FX resurfacing laser delivers ultra-short fractionated laser energy to create small, gentle micro-wounds in the upper layers of the skin to induce collagen stimulation and skin remodeling. PICO FX resurfacing laser is a skin tightening treatment used to address a variety of skin concerns, including fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, sun damage, age spots, and uneven skin tone and texture. It works similar to the Fraxel resurfacing laser by penetrating deep into the skin, triggering the body’s natural healing response, and stimulating the production of collagen, which helps to plump and smooth the skin. With fractionated energy, the majority of the skin remains unharmed, resulting in faster healing time. With PICO FX fractionated laser, results can be achieved with a higher safety margin and less downtime than the traditional Fraxel laser skin resurfacing treatments.

What is the best laser for acne scar removal?

PICO FX fractionated laser is the most advanced and effective laser treatment for acne scar removal and skin texture improvement. The PICO FX resurfacing laser uses a fractionated laser beam, creating micro-wounds within the epidermis and dermis for the treatment of acne scars. The production of new collagen helps to plump and smooth the skin, making it one of the most effective acne scar treatments in the world. It is the only fractionated laser with little to no downtime, and that allows for make-up application immediately after the procedure.

Additional PICO FX for laser skin resurfacing treatments include:

  • Acne scars
  • Skin texture concerns
  • Aging skin
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Pigmentation
  • Traumatic scars

Results with little downtime

The PICO FX resurfacing laser is a non-invasive skin treatment designed to be safe and effective for patients with skin types 1 to 5. This is because it uses a non-thermal laser technology that delivers ultra-short energy pulses to the skin, targeting specific areas without causing heat damage to the surrounding tissue.

However, it’s always important to consult with our on-site Dermatologist together with our team of highly trained and experienced laser technicians before undergoing any fractionated laser treatment, as individual skin types and conditions can vary. Our Dermatologist and team of laser experts will be able to evaluate your skin and recommend the most appropriate treatment plan for your specific needs.

Before the procedure: A careful analysis of your skin will be performed during a full consultation. We will create a detailed treatment plan to treat all your skin concerns. Please try to avoid wearing makeup on the treatment area on the day of your procedure. Please avoid sun-tanning or self-tanners 2 weeks prior to treatment.

During the procedure: We will explain all pre- and post-treatment instructions. The PICO FX resurfacing laser handpiece is used on the areas to be treated. The procedure is quick and effective. Patients may feel a warm snapping sensation in the treatment area. At FCP Dermatology, our on-site Dermatologist allows us to offer you medical grade topical or local anesthetic for your comfort.

After the procedure: Some mild swelling and redness may occur after the treatment, this is normal and will typically resolve within 3 days. Avoid sun exposure and use an SPF 30 broad spectrum (UVA/UVB) sunscreen to maintain results. Multiple treatments are usually required for optimal results.

Frequently Asked Questions about Laser Skin Resurfacing

The term “Fraxel” is derived from “fractional resurfacing,” which refers to the fact that the laser is used to create tiny fractions of damage in the skin, leaving the surrounding tissue intact. This allows for faster healing and less downtime compared to traditional laser skin resurfacing treatments. Fraxel is a brand name referring to a fractionated laser using a 1550 nm and/or 1927 nm wavelength laser. This laser leaves you with at least 7 days of true downtime, meaning you won’t be able to leave your house for at least 7 days, sometimes longer. The PICO FX fractionated laser uses 1064 nm non-thermal picosecond pulses to improve wrinkles, acne scars, fine lines and pigmentation with very little to no downtime.

At FCP Dermatology, all treatments are supervised and overseen by our Double Board-Certified Dermatologist, Dr. Kristy Bailey. Dr. Bailey hand-picks only the top laser technicians in the world with more than 10+ years of experience and a degree in laser technology to treat our patients.

The PICO FX fractionated laser treatment for pigment is considered a cosmetic treatment which is not covered by insurance providers.

PICO FX resurfacing laser treatments are performed at 4-week intervals, for a minimum of 3 treatments.

PICO FX resurfacing treatments are ideal for the face, neck and other areas of the body with noticeable signs of aging, scarring, and textural imperfections.

Unlike other PICO lasers or other Fraxel lasers, PICO FX is the only laser with the proper spot size, wavelengths, and pico- and nano-second technology to improve skin texture without damaging the surrounding tissue.

PICO FX is a fractional laser skin resurfacing treatment that delivers ultra-short fractionated laser energy to create small, gentle micro-wounds in the upper layers of the skin to induce collagen stimulation and promote skin tightening. Botox® is an injectable treatment that uses a neuromodulator to relax muscles in the face. Laser resurfacing with fractionated laser energy is typically used to improve the texture and tone of the skin, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and reduce scarring. Botox is used to reduce the appearance of dynamic wrinkles such as frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines. Ultimately, the choice between fractionated laser and Botox® will depend on the specific concerns you want to address. Our team of skin experts, along with our Double Board-Certified Dermatologist will help you determine the best treatment plan for your needs.

The number of recommended treatments will vary based on the concern being treated. While some patients will see results after a single treatment, most need a series of 3 or 4 treatments for best results. Results will continue to improve over time with best results seen at about 3 months following your final treatment.

The cost of fractionated laser resurfacing will vary depending on the surface area to be treated and the condition we are treating. For example, acne scars typically need more treatments than fine lines or facial rejuvenation. At FCP Dermatology, we conduct a full consultation on every patient prior to any treatment to determine the best treatment for your skin and will discuss the cost.

The best way to reduce fine lines and wrinkles is usually with a combination of treatments. Every person’s face is different and every treatment plan is tailored to your skin and unique facial anatomy. Our on-site Dermatologist, together with our team of industry experts will guide you through a bespoke treatment plan.

Yes, the fractionated resurfacing laser can give you some skin tightening as it is building collagen under your skin. The main indication for fractionated laser resurfacing is to improve acne scars, fine lines, pigmentation and wrinkles. Collagen production is also achieved so you will notice tighter skin. The PICO FX fractionated laser will produce all of these results with little to no downtime and the ability to wear make-up right away, unlike other fractionated lasers.

Laser resurfacing stimulates collagen production in the skin by creating controlled micro-injuries. The increased collagen helps improve skin elasticity and firmness, leading to a tightening effect.

Pico FX is effective in treating a range of skin concerns, including pigmentation issues (such as sunspots and age spots), acne scars, fine lines, and wrinkles. It can also improve overall skin texture and tone.

Pico FX can be combined with other treatments such as dermal fillers or Botox, depending on individual needs. Your skincare professional can recommend a personalized treatment plan.

Good candidates for Pico FX include individuals with concerns such as pigmentation irregularities, acne scars, and fine lines. A consultation with a skincare professional can help determine if Pico FX is the right option based on individual skin needs and conditions.

The longevity of results can vary, but many individuals experience long-lasting improvements. To maintain results, it may be necessary to follow up with periodic maintenance treatments.
